As a young man I began my career at a ranch in Tivoli, Texas breaking horses, working cattle (i.e. vaccinating, castration, dehorning and drawing blood for brucellosis tests) for approximately 5 years. Expanding my career plan I went to work for Central Cattle Co., a feedlot in LaVernia, Texas where I rode pens, identifying and doctoring sick cattle and sorted for feeding and shipping. It culminated in my working for IBP (Iowa Beef Processing) in quality control of beef before it was packaged for shipping. With this experience and knowledge, my purpose was established.
As a young lady growing up in San Antonio, Texas, I had the privilege of having grandparents that lived on farms in DeWitt County, building for me a passion for animals. In the 70’s my parents left the big city for a taste of country. From bottle feeding calves, raising rabbits, later in FFA showing lambs and chickens, my heart was always outside among nature. In the midst of cattle is where I find comfort, my destiny being written.
By God’s revelation, Job’s Country ( pronounced Jobe) was created in February 2008. The name Job represents Jesus, Oscar, and Brenda. Declaring God first in all aspirations, plans and decisions, Job’s Country seeks to manage what is His in a way that honors Him. We have been entrusted to develop cattle that will benefit the beef industry, by also supplying nutritional, healthy protein for our family’s diet.
Through trust in the One who owns it all and His blessings of 6 children and several grandchildren, we will remain faithful and diligent in our service to Him and others.
